I also think I need to find a new clear channel, these radios are now picking up the PMR radios used in a Chinese restaurant that is a good 700 km away through city center office blocks, which we only very rarely caught tiny snippets of before, at least we know who it is now :p some experimenting for airspace tonight I think! I had noticed the CTCSS isnt as good as it could be which is a pity, as the alarm function is a useful safety feature we use in a town center area of fairly high PMR traffic! was fairly impressed with the supplied earpieces thou, and will be trying one of these vibration pickup earpieces tonight which seems to be pretty effective in testing. Thanks guys, just after posting this I also found this site, which confirmed my theory of why CTCSS was a bit random, certain steps being 'missed' as it were in most PMR radios ( midland / cobra ) and that I was almost on target, but a step out

Your help is much appreciated! I do have a programing cable, but haven't played with the software, just manual programing at the moment. I did also wonder if its an issue with the narrow / wide setting ( set to narrow) or the step ( 6.25kHz ) Is there a list of which sub tones are which commercial PMR radio sub channels?ġ0 on the puxing comes up as 91.5, and 13 as 100 1 is 67.00, being the only one that seems to work with the other brands! C-CDC 13 on the pxing menu, assuming the correct PMR frequencies, will be equivalent to 13 on a generic midland PMR radio? I did have the bright idea of trying CTCSS sub chan 1, and that seems to allow the puxings to talk nicelly.Īnyway, my theory, and therefore question is, do the puxing sub chanels correspond to the normal consumer PMR CTCSS tone channels? i.e.
Ive programed all the PMR channels in nicely, all seems good, but getting the radios to talk to each other on 7 10 or 4 13 seems to not work. they sometimes randomly manage it, but generaly speaking dont want to play ball as soon as CTCSS is activated. With all of these, im having a great deal of trouble getting the puxings to listen / talk nicelly. Im having some newbie issues with the puxing 777 's I bought to tie in to my works existing PMR radios, we have some BT freeways, some midland G5's and Ive also got some old cheapy PMR's at home that ive been experimenting with.Īpologies now if I'm confusing my terminology! its been a long time since physics, and im not that up with radio stuff, Im a geek at heart, but for now it can just be a black box that works as long as it works! :p
